Graduation is an important time in anyone's life. Not just because of the completion of a chapter in their life, but because it is like a well earned Christmas! After all the years of hard work and dedication it took to get to this point in their lives, they have truly earned some recognition. The following is a list of gifts that any well deserving graduate will appreciate!
# 9 The Gift of Spirit
A great way to get your recent high school graduate ready for college is to buy them clothing or supplies that have their new academic home logo or mascot on them. If your graduate just graduated from college, it is still a nice gift to give them, so that they can always have something to remind them of their college days.
#8 Location, Location, Location
A really useful gift idea is to give your graduate gifts that they can use for their college stay. For instance, when I graduated high school, oh so many years ago, my family gave me some beach themed gifts, since the college I was going to was near the beach. You can give your graduate a winter coat, if they are going to a college in a cold area, or a fan or window air conditioner if they are going to college in a warm area. This can also work if your college graduate is lucky enough to receive a job offer, and they may have to move to another part of the country (or even another country).
#7 Keep It Clean
A really useful gift is the gift of clean laundry. This is a great gift for any high school graduate who may be unfamiliar with the laundry process (as I admit I was). Laundry baskets, a hamper, detergent, all would be useful gifts for the grad who was lucky enough to have their parents do their laundry their whole lives. Also, along with actual laundry products, directions on how the laundry process works is also a good idea, or as one of my colleagues admitted, she used fabric softener for a year instead of detergent to wash her clothes. Well, at least her clothes smelled nice!

Pictures are worth a thousand words, and none more so than your college years. Luckily as well, digital camera prices have dropped considerably from their first inception, so not only will you be able to give your graduate a great gift, but it will also be economical!
# 5 Get Personal
Personalized gifts are also a great gift to give your grad, especially since personalized items are all the rage. You can give your graduate personalized stationery that they can use for cards or letters. Also, monogrammed pens are also popular, and useful, since they will probably be taking a lot of notes!
#4 Scrappy
If you wish to give your graduate a simple, heartfelt gift, a scrapbook is a perfect gift. It will show your graduate how much you care about them, while also showing them how much they have grown over the years to have reached this accomplishment.
#3 Don't Stop The Music
A CD/DVD rack is a great gift for a graduate who may have collected hundreds of each as many college kids do. That way, they will be able to take all of their music and movies with them to college, which is always a necessity, since college kids usually have a small budget for entertainment, and may find themselves on several nights of the week either watching a movie, or listening to music.

When I applied and was accepted into college, I was within driving distance from my home. However, in the middle of my freshman year, my parents moved away to halfway across the country. So I had suddenly found myself a little more than a drive away from home. My parents however were kind enough to buy me plane tickets to visit them during the holidays, which were immeasurably helpful since I would never have had the means to fund my own trip home. For your graduate who may be going to a far away place for school, plane tickets are a great gift, if nothing else, it will let them know that they are always welcomed back!

When in doubt, money will always work, even for the pickiest graduate. They can use it to buy anything they need, whether it is supplies for college, or if they graduated college, to help them start their journey into the real world.
