Announcements
- Send announcements to family and friends to share news ahead of time, or to let them know about a special event that has already taken place.


Birth Announcements - Share your happiness with friends and family with Birth announcements. These announcements can have information about your newborn, and for a personal touch can feature a printed photograph. (view our selection of adorable birth announcements)

Blank Stock - These are non-printed invitations. Blank card stock is usually purchased when the customer would like to print their own invitations.

Blind Embossing - This process is popular on the borders of many invitations, addresses and monograms. It is a printing process where no ink is used. Letters are etched into metal plates that leave an impression of the letters on the paper.
Calligraphy - A calligrapher handwrites the wording using a special pen and ink. This is typically used for very formal invitations and to address the envelopes to guests.

Copy - This is the text that is printed. It includes all the wording such as date, time, location, etc.

Corner Copy - This is text that is printed in the lower left or right hand corner of an invitation. Corner copies usually consist of attire requirements or RSVP information.
Deckled Edge - A feathery, sometimes jagged edge found on some invitations. These elegant edges are mostly found on invitations made of parchment paper. 

Die-Cut - Sharp metal rules are used to cut shapes, designs and edges into card stock.

Digital - Digital items are printed on a special press that allows for a full color process. These items can only be printed flat and typically have longer turnaround times. All photo items will be printed with this process.

Direction Cards - This is used to provide your guests with directions to your event. Sometimes they include a map. (more about direction cards & maps)
Ecru - A color, richer than ivory, also known as cream or eggshell.

Embossed - The process of creating a three-dimensional image or design on invitations.

Enclosure Cards - These cards are usually smaller than the invitations and consist of anything that is included with the invitations such as reception, respond and informal cards.

Engraved Printing - A traditional process of printing, used for very formal events. The paper is pressed onto a metal plate, causing the letters to be raised and bruised on the back of the paper.

Envelope Icing - A decorative wraparound address label which is affixed to the front of an invitation envelope and allows you to write or print your guests' names and addresses on the front.

Envelope Lining - A section of colored paper/foil that is added to the interior flap of the envelope. If the invitation has both an inner and outer envelope, typically the inner envelopes can be lined. Usually a liner color is selected to coordinate with the invitations or the ink color selected for the wording.

Flat Printing - An inked impression is made on a rubber cylinder and transferred on to cardstock. The image is flat, also known as lithography or offset.

Font - This is a lettering style used for your copy, also know as typestyle. Typically, Fonts are categorized by style, such as block, formal script, casual script, or funky.
Glaze Printing® - An innovative printing method which gives designs and wording printed on an invitation vivid color and subtle texture.
Informal Card - These cards typically have names printed on the front in the ink and font of your choice. The inside can be printed with a personal message or left blank to allow for a handwritten message. Monograms can also be printed on these cards.

Inner Envelopes - Some invitations come with an inner envelope which is for placing the invitation and all enclosure cards inside. This envelope should have just the names of the guests handwritten on the outside. This envelope then gets placed into the outer envelope. This envelope is sometimes lined.

Invitation - A written request for your presence at an event. Also, includes the specific details of the event.
Jackets/Pocketfold - Specific types of wraps that significantly dress up an invitation. Both a jacket and pocket act as a separate enclosure for the printed insert in addition to the mailing envelope(s). With a jacket, typically the invitation insert will slide into it from the top or the side (leaving one side showing whereas with a pocket, the insert is wrapped up completely on all sides (and usually the pocket folds into itself).

Letterpress Printing - This printing process involves the manufacture of a plate from the original artwork. The inked plate or type is brought into contact with the paper to convey the image.

Linen Paper - For truly elegant look. It is lightly textured like many small criss-crossing lines. Similar look to linen fabric.

Monograms - Consist of the initial of the bride's first name on the left, then the initial of the groom's first name on the right. The middle initial is the groom's last name. Monograms are typically printed on invitations or informal cards, but can also be used on stationery. If the monogram is for one person, the first initial of your last name should be between the first initial of your first and middle names.

Motifs - A simple printed design or accent to add a little something to yor invitations or stationery. Usually printed in the same ink color as chosen for your wording.
Outer Envelopes - This is the mailing envelope. It should have the mailing address on the front and the return address on the back flap.

Parchment Paper - Translucent, cloudy paper, used for creating an antique or aged look. This paper works well with calligraphy.

Pearlized - A shiny, pearl-like finish used for borders, or designs on invitations.

Place Cards - These cards allow your guests to know what table they are seated at and sometimes what seat at the table is reserved for them. (view our selection of place cards )

Programs - Gives guests an outline of the formal ceremony. They tell the order of events and acknowledge the attendants. (view our selection of wedding programs )

Proofs - Proofs allow you to view your order after it is professionally type set, before it goes to print. It is important to make sure the spelling, format and font is correct before the order is printed.
Reception Cards - These cards are used to invite guests to a reception. This card is often used when the reception is at a different location than the ceremony. Reception cards can be used for any additional information not printed on the invitation itself.

Respond Cards (R.S.V.P. Cards) - Also known as RSVP cards, tell you whether or not the people you have invited will be attending. Many people also ask their guests meal selection and the number attending on these cards. Traditionally, the sender provides the postage for their guests to return these cards.

Return Address - This is the address is printed on the back of the outer envelope of the invitations and the respond card envelopes.
Save The Date Announcements - These are announcements sent out to your guests 6 months to a year before your event to announce your date. This helps out of town guests plan there travel arrangements. Seals - Add the perfect touch to any invitation. Seals go on the outer flap of the envelope to close it. Seals can be personalized or can have a design to coordinate with your event. (view our selection of envelope seals )

Thank You Cards - These cards typically have the words Thank You printed on the front in the ink and font of your choice. The inside can be printed with a personal message or left blank to allow for a handwritten message.

Thermography - A process of printing where a special powder is added to the ink printed on the paper. The printed paper is heated and the powder and ink mixture dries to form a raised effect.

Tissue - Small sheets of tissue paper will often be included in the assembly of invitations for formal events, such as weddings. The original purpose for tissue was to prevent the ink from smudging during the mailing process. Whether or not an item comes with tissue paper will be listed in the features section on the item’s description page.

Translucent Vellum - A sheer or translucent paper, with a smooth finish. This paper is often used for overlays on invitations.

Tri-Fold - An invitation that is folded twice to create three panels. The outside panels are folded the cover the middle panel.

Wrap - A layer of vellum that is wrapped around the card stock to add to the presentation of your invitations.
Z-Fold - An invitation with an accordion type fold, to create a three paneled invitation.
